Benazir Bhutto Killed In Attack

Out of all the things that happened in 2007, I have to say, this one shocked me the most....

Pakistani former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been assassinated in a suicide attack.

Ms Bhutto - the first woman PM in an Islamic state - was leaving an election rally in Rawalpindi when a gunman shot her in the neck and set off a bomb.

At least 20 other people died in the attack and several more were injured.

President Pervez Musharraf has urged people to remain calm but angry protests have gripped some cities, with at least 11 deaths reported.

Security forces have been placed on a state of "red alert" nationwide.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack. Analysts believe Islamist militants to be the most likely group behind it.

*sighs* it's just so sad.

Anyway, Mr Frankie and I wish all of you Happy New Year and he is to a better year.

The Online Slimming Club

The Soya Bean Shop

Rosiepose - Mums shop here for hip baby gear! Discover whats new for bub and you

Last weekend I was craving for some soya bean drinks and the only place that I know that sells really good authentic soya bean is in Plaza Damas and it's called "The Soya Shop". Let me tell you the soya products are just so super deliciousness and you can really taste the soya without all the additional preservatives and sweetness.

The it's not expensive at all and more importantly it's healthy and nutritious :)

Mr Frankie had 2 glasses of warm soya milk and I had this.....

I'm not too sure what you call it because everytime I go there I would just point at the menu and the girl would get it for me :D.

I had the one with the chocolate filling. So far it's my favourite. The sweetness of the chocolate filling goes very very well with the creaminess of the unsweetened soya milk.

Yummy yum!

Now I'm craving for some chili crab! Anyone knows a really good place to eat chili crab?

Going Virgin

Biz4You.net Home Business Matchup

With the holiday season just around the corner, thought I'll post some recipes for non-alcoholic drinks (that usually contains alcohol) for those who are planning to have a party and wouldn't want to serve alcoholic drinks.

I had my first virgin sangria at a new years' party last year. Mark and Elizabeth was so nice to made us some virgin sangria since they know that Mr Frankie and I do no consume alcohol. And I have to say it's super delicious. It's just so easy to make!

WHITE GRAPE JUICE SANGRIA:
Peel the skin of 1 orange into one long spiral.
Repeat with a lemon.
Fill a large pitcher with ice.
Add 1 28-oz bottle of white grape juice, 1 32-oz bottle of seltzer, the juice of the orange and the lemon, and the orange and lemon zest spirals.
Stir well.
Pour into wineglasses and garnish each with a slice of lime.
Serves 8.

Another of my favourite is the raspberry daquiris. This yummy drinks would surely qunche your thirst on a hot sunny day.

RASPBERRY DAIQUIRIS
Raspberry daiquiris are a cool and fruity concoction designed to be delicious and refreshing on a hot summer day. Ice and fruit are blended together in this festive ruby-colored drink. Follow these steps to make a non-alcoholic raspberry daiquiri.

1/2 ounce lemon juice
2 ounces apple juice
1 tsp castor sugar
3 ounces raspberry puree

1. Add 3 ounces of raspberry puree to a blender.
2. Add 2 ounces of apple juice to the blender.
3. Add 1/2 of an ounce of lemon juice to the blender.
4. Add 1 teaspoon of castor sugar to the blender.
5. Add 1/2 of an ounce of raspberry syrup.
6. Blend the ingredients with a handful of crushed ice, then serve in a goblet glass.

Now this is Mr Frankie's favourite. A virgin Singapore sling is a nonalcoholic cousin of the world-famous Singapore sling, which uses cherry brandy instead of cherry juice. This recipe makes one serving.

SINGAPORE SLING
2 oz. cherry juice
club soda
cracked ice
1/2 oz. lime juice
lime wedge
1 maraschino cherries

1. Fill a chilled collins glass with cracked ice.
2. Add cherry juice and lime juice and stir.
3. Top off with soda water and stir.
4. Garnish with lime wedge and maraschino cherry.

CHEERS!

Sleepyhead

I have 3 meetings in a row today!

I promise to be fully alert and pay attention to what you ding dongs are going to say today.

Business Mums Guides

Superstaaaaaaar!

Mr Frankie is currently obsessed with "Keeping Up With the Kardashians". Well, who wouldn't be obsessed when you have Kim Kardashian going around in skimpy nothings!

Even my little brother who is supposedly studying very very hard in Uniten sms me and ask me whether I can go and get him the box set for the reality TV show.

Boys will always be boys huh? :P

I hate the show. Don't ask :P

So now our Favourite in the Astro programming includes channel 712 (or is it 714?)

I am not really a big fan of tv reality show but I have to say that I'm hooked on "Kimora : Life In The Fab Lane". I know a lot of people would say that she's quite a beyatch but I do not see it that way. It's not easy being a (ex) model, a mogul and a mother to two very naughty little girls, Aoki Lee and Ming Lee. I think she works very hard for her family and fashin is not an easy industry to be involved in, oui?

Hmm, do we have Phat Farm and Baby Phat here in Malaysia? I know I saw her other label, "KLS" somewhere earlier this year in KL.

We may like different things when it comes to tv reality show, but one thing that we share in common is that we L.O.V.E to watch "Gene Simmons Family Jewels"

Gene Simmons was the singer of the rock 80s group "KISS". But I think he was more famous for his super long tounge!

Gene Simmons never strikes me as a funny family man. And not just that, he is also a devoted father to two of his children and a loving partner to Shannon Tweed, his babymomma for 20 over years.

So folks that is how Mr Frankie and I spend our weekends. We laze around and watch tv all day :)

Stapled!

This is what happened when I had too much Nescafe to drink mid-morning.

I accidentally stapled my baju kurung to my document.

Diyana was laughing so hard that her belly moves from side to side. I think she peed in her pants too.

:P

I need a good Thai massage to clear my head. Some beating ought to do me some good.

I woke up this morning believing that today is Friday.

So not good for my mental health.

Gegerl the Drama Princess

Taking Gegerl to the vet proves to be a battle for me and Mr Frankie. That girl is such a drama princess and she makes sure that we are aware of that too! Just take a look at the photos the day we took her to the vet. She would scream and cry and wail and kick and bite.

Since she is daddy's girl, Mr Frankie was tasked with the job to pacify her before we put her in the voyager.

The calm before the storm.

And so the 'drama' begins!

"Let me out of here!"

Her usual trick will be licking my fingers begging to be let out of the cage.

More licking before.....

OUCH!

Before realizing that any form of resistance is futile.

We used to bring our older cats to a vet in Ara Damansara, which is now quite far from Shah Alam where we are currently residing. So Mt Frankie suggested that we took Gegerl to a vet near the Section 6 market which is just 5 minutes drive.

Gegerl was given an injection and she was a brave little girl as she didn't even scream or flip out as she would normally do.

Later we gave her some ice-cream as a reward :)

People's Freedom Walk

Five lawyers and four non-governmental organisations representatives who had joined in the illegal ‘People’s Freedom Walk’ being escorted by officers to be bailed out. They are (from left) Sivarasa Rasiah, Noorazah Othman, N. Surendran, Amer Hamzah Arshad, Latheefa Bibi Koya, Eric Paulsen, Indian national Ashraf Ali Sada Katullah, Edmund Bon and Johny Andu @ Abu Bakar Adnan.
Well illegal demonstrations seems to be the trend these days eh? I wonder what can you achieve by doing so?

David 'Hawtness' Beckham

I'm not sure whether this is even an appropriate thing to do putting this picture up but I just hafta!....

;)

David Beckham is now modeling Armani Underwear ad campaign. I guess with his football days are coming to an end, he is now cashing on whatever he can get his hands on. He is reportedly to be paid $20 mil for the next 3 years for the Armani Underwear ad campaign.

Friday Bl00dy Friday

Hihihihihihihihihihihi!
It's Friday and I just can't wait for the weekend.

Don't Call Me Crazy!

Do you know that one in six malaysians have some kind of psychological problem?

Hmmmph now it all make sense....

Had a good chat with an old friend from Uni. Her current office is at the Petronas Twin Tower with a view to kill. She is a very successful person in what she is doing. She drives an Audi TT, bought a bungalow in Damansara Heights, has a collection of Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos and god-knows-what-else. Annual vacation includes Paris, Monte Carlo, New York, Spain. Her children are all sent to boarding schools all over Europe. And she has a very handsome, very rich husband who adores her and only her.

...and she tried committing suicide...twice in the last 2 years.

Isn't that just sad?....

I'm still wondering what triggered her to do such thing. I dare not ask.

Mon Oncle

My dear uncle came down for a visit from Penang last week. So after we picked him up from Shah Village where he was staying for the duration of his training, we went for breakfast in Plaza Damas. My uncle wanted to get some...errrr cheap dvds and the only place we know is Plaza Damas. We used to frequent Section 14 in Petaling Jaya but the place was closed about a year back.

Anyway, I am very very close to this uncle of mine. We literally grew up together when we were staying in Beach Street in Penang where my grandfather worked as a policeman. Since my Mom and my Dad travelled a lot and I was too young to be taken to places, I stayed with my grandparents.

Just like any young children, we argued a lot...and I mean a lot. And when we argued, we did not just screamed and shout, we punched and kicked too. There was a time where we had a fight and he was punching my face (he was way bigger than me) and I couldn't do anything but bite his chubby stomach. I bit so hard that it left a mark on him until now :)

And as we grew older, he was later sent to a boarding school in Perak and I was sent to a boarding school in Seremban. When school holidays came, we'd take the same KTM train and I would meet him when my train stopped in Ipoh station.

Now that we are all grown up, we became closer than ever before. I can talk to him about anything and vice versa.
And he is the proud father of Baby Sofiya!

Beast and the 'Beastier'

Diyana and I have been told, on numerous occasions that our husbands are waaaaaaaaaay better looking than us.
"Tak padan langsung lah korang ni", so we were told. ("You and your husband doesn't match at all")
???
We are not too sure whether to take it as a compliment or an insult.
What kind of people say these kinda things??

LIMA Tragedy

LANGKAWI: Three paratroopers, two of them women, drowned when strong winds blew them and 17 others out to sea while they were rehearsing for the opening day of Lima '07.

Eleven others were injured in the 10.15am incident, two of them critically. Five of the injured were women. They were among 138 paratroopers who jumped from a height of 333 metres from two C-130 Hercules transport aircraft over the Langkawi International Airport.
The paratroopers were rehearsing for the opening show of Lima '07 tomorrow, where they will simulate an airfield seizure.Ranger Siti Hajar Yakub, 24, died at the scene while private Nurul Wahida Mohamad Yunus, 20, and trooper Raimon Duncan, 25, died at the Langkawi Hospital.

Doctors spent more than an hour trying to resuscitate Nurul Wahida and Raimon but to no avail. The two were declared dead before noon.Siti Hajar, of Masjid Tanah in Malacca, was attached to the 8 Ranger Parawin while Nurul Wahida, of Tanjung Malim, Perak, was with the 17 Royal Malay Regiment Parawin.Raimon, of Simunjan, Sarawak, was attached to the Squadron Armour Para.
Of the two critically injured, Suraya Ali, 23, is warded at the hospital's intensive care unit while Zaliza Zakaria, also 23, was flown to the Alor Star Hospital for emergency surgery. Both suffered broken ribs and punctured lungs.
One of the other nine injured was given outpatient treatment while the rest were warded at the Langkawi Hospital for various injuries.District police chief Supt Mohamed Ali Jamaluddin said the group was among 138 paratroopers from the 10th Para Brigade based at the Terendak Camp in Malacca who jumped over the airport.
There were 80 troops in each aircraft but it was unclear why the rest did not jump.It is possible that jumpmasters aboard the aircraft stopped the jumps when the group got into trouble.
Sources said jumpmasters had gauged wind speed readings and had given the green light for the jump. But an easterly wind picked up as the paratroopers were descending, blowing some of them 200m off course out to the sea between the water breakers and the beach in Pantai Cenang.
Some of the injured touched down on dry land, but not before crashing through branches and breaking their bones.Mohamed Ali said a search-and-rescue operation comprising 70 members of the navy, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, the Fire and Rescue Department, marine police and hospital emergency staff was launched but it was a while before the first body was found.
"The operation was called off at 12.53pm once it was established that all the paratroopers were accounted for," he said at Langkawi Hospital.Post-mortems on the paratroopers were completed by 7pm. After their bodies were cleaned, the remains of Nurul Wahida and Siti Hajar were taken to the hospital's surau for prayers.
All three were transported to the airport from where the body of Raimon was flown to Kuching and those of Nurul Wahida and Siti Hajar were flown to the Subang air base. From there, they were transported to their hometowns for burial.
Royal Malaysian Air Force chief Gen Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin said the airfield-seizure simulation would go on as planned tomorrow. He said yesterday's rehearsal was to have been held last Saturday but had been postponed due to "unforeseen circumstances" and was meant to be the last before the actual show.
Azizan said there would be another jump today to prepare for the show.

The Professional Jeweller

Getting married is one of the most important stages in any person's life. The excitement of picking the dress, deciding the menu for the reception, the honeymoon, & most of all picking a ring.

My brother is going through all these phases when she and her long time girlfriend decided to tie the knot. He popped the question to her one fine day, after working up the nerve and rehearsing several times in front of the mirror. After browsing through catalogues of diamond engagement rings, he picked a beautiful one which he thought would be perfect for her.
The ring was beautiful and the diamond was stunning. I asked my brother where he bought such an enchanting solitaire. To my surprise he gave me a URL to a site. He further added that customers could purchase diamonds, and rings for all occasions at this website. Whether it's for an engagement or diamond wedding rings, anybody could get it there. There was even a pre-design ring service.

Christmas Fruit Cake

I just LOVE LOVE LOVE fruit cake (well, I LOVE all types of cakes hahahahah)

I have never baked fruit cake before but since Christmas is just around the corner (which reminds me that I ought to be sending those Christmas cards asap) why not I try and bake one?

:)

Dark Christmas Fruitcake
4 cups raisins
1 cup candied cherries - halved
1 cup candied pineapple
1 cup diced candied mixed fruit
1 cup pecan halves
1 cup thinly sliced almonds
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 cup brown sugar
6 eggs - separated
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
1/2 square unsweetened baking chocolate(melted)
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup orange juice

Preparation

- Thoroughly grease a 4" x 10" tube cake pan or 2 large loaf pans pans, or 3 medium size loaf pans. Line the bottom and sides with aluminum foil. Lightly spray the foil with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.

In a large bowl, combine the fruit and nuts. Toss the mixture with 1 cup flour to coat. In a second bowl, sift the remaining flour with the baking soda and spices. In a very large bowl, at medium speed, beat the shortening and sugar together until light and fluffy.

Add the egg yolks, one at a time, beating well afer each addition. Add the melted chocolate & mix well. At low speed, alternately beat in the flour/spice mixture and the fruit juices. In a separate bowl, with clean beaters, beat the egg whites until stiff. Fold the beaten egg whites into the batter.

Add the fruit and nut mixture and stir in by hand until all the ingredients are well mixed. Turn the batter into the prepared pan (1 tube pan or 2 large loaf pans or 3 small loaf pans). Bake in a preheated oven at 300ยบ - in a tube cake pan for 2 hours and 20 minutes; in 2 large loaf pans for 1 hr and 45 minutes; in 3 small loaf pans for 1-1/2 hours.

Cool completely in the pan, on a wire racke. Remove the cooled cake from the pan and wrap it well.

Miss World 2007

SANYA: Pre-contest favourite Miss China won the Miss World 2007 title in her own country on Saturday, much to the delight of the audience, in front of an estimated two billion viewers around the globe.

Twenty-three-year-old Zhang Zilin was crowned the winner in Sanya, China. Miss Angola came second and Miss Mexico third at the beauty pageant, held on the southern holiday island of Hainan, dubbed China's answer to Hawaii.

Two billion people in 200 countries were expected to tune in to watch the show, which saw Miss China take the crown ahead of 105 of the world's most beautiful and talented women. The audience in the 2,000-capacity Beauty Crown Theatre, specially built for when Sanya first hosted the event in 2003, roared in delight as Zhang was crowned the winner. The secretary from Beijing was the pre-contest favourite with British bookmakers, along with Miss Dominican Republic.

At 182 centimetres (six feet), Miss China was also the tallest contestant. "There are 1.3 billion people behind me," Miss China said during the 40-second interview stage of the contest, referring to her country's population. "If I win I want to become a link between the Olympic Games (in Beijing next year) and the Miss World Organisation." "I want to use the power and beauty of Miss World to support those in need," she said, speaking throughout in hesitant English, adding a few words in Chinese.

Fireworks exploded above the crown-shaped theatre, where visitors had paid up to 300 US dollars for tickets, after the popular decision was made. Miss Mexico had also been strongly fancied, although Miss Angola was a surprise top-three finisher. Contestants were rated on an array of disciplines including physical fitness, style, dress, personality and beauty. The 106 was whittled down to 16, then five, with hotly tipped Miss Dominican Republic not making the final five.

I wonder when will Malaysia would make the list...wait a minute? Who represented Malaysia?
