Al-Fatihah - Ayuna, Daughter of Actor Mustapha Kamal Buried

"The daughter of actor Mustapha Kamal who died from critical injuries sustained in a fall from the 13th floor of the Danau Impian Condominium in Taman Desa on Oct 22, was buried at the Mukim Ampang Satu Muslim cemetery in Ampang Jaya this morning.

The body of Ayuna, who was also known as Ona, 15, the actor’s eldest daughter by his ex-wife, film producer Yong Rahimah Johari, was taken from the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) at 2.30am today after the funeral.

Another prayer was later held at the Bukit Indah mosque in Ampang for burial at 10.30am.When met at his house in Jalan Bukit Indah, a distraught Mustapa said he regretted a newspaper report saying that his injured daughter was in stable condition when she was not.

However, he said he accepted Ayuna’s death as he had looked after her for 18 days at the hospital and the family members were beside her when she breathed her last.

Mustapha also expressed his gratitude to his artiste friends for their moral support during the difficult time when Ayuna was critically injured.“I also thank the Universiti Malaya undergraduates, the Islamic Religious Teachers Association and my relatives in Kelantan, as well as the Menteri Besar (Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat) for conducting special prayers for Ayuna,” he said.

UMMC head of public relations, Wahaya A. Hamid, said Ayuna had serious head, abdominal and heart injuries from the fall.Ayuna, who recently sat for her Penilaian Menengah Rendah examination, died at the hospital’s cardiothoracic intensive care unit at 10.22pm."
