'Wedding Of The Year' Couple Granted Divorce

KUANTAN: Their wedding made headlines last year when the bride was presented with lavish gifts, including a hantaran (gift) worth RM444,444.44 and a BMW worth RM250,000.

However, the RM3.5 million nuptials, dubbed the "wedding of the year" at the time, did not have a happy ending.Yesterday, the 51-year-old groom Datuk Roslan Hashim, officially divorced Datin Puteri Shahanaz Hazlin Hamdan, 25, with talak satu at the Syariah High Court here.
For their wedding in September last year, Puteri Shahanaz was presented, in addition to the hantaran and BMW, a RM150,000 jewellery set, a diamond ring worth RM20,000, designer items and a dowry of RM22,222.22.The hantaran was said to be the highest ever given to a bride.
Lavish, expensive, over-the-top wedding does not guarantee happy marriage. I have friends who are willing to take up loan up to RM20,000.00 just to have a lavish engagement (not wedding mind you) so just she 'won't lose face' and have a grand occasion.
I pity her. Such shallow individual for someone who graduate from Harvard Business School.
But before you say anything, this is just my opinion. If you have money to burn, by all means have the best wedding ever.
But if you can't afford to have a RM5k wedding gown, don't go and borrow money so you can have one. That is just plain stupid.
